Artists from every discipline find each other to make projects together: a project board, an explorer with profiles and filters, communities and conversations on the site itself.
The challenge
To connect people who have a project with people who want to work, from actors to sound technicians, and to handle the peak of a big announcement without depending on any social network.
What was built
- A board where whoever has the idea posts what they are looking for and whoever is interested applies, with the kind of participation in plain view: paid, collaborative, exchange or grant-funded.
- An explorer showing one artist at a time, with each person’s profile and filters such as “has done film” or “has never done musicals”, putting those with the most in common first.
- Communities with sub-communities, direct messages and a conversation on each project, all arriving in real time.
- Real care: reports with a reason, a moderation panel, scam warnings in conversations and access for people 18 and over only.
Under the hood
- Built in Node, with no dependencies and with SQLite, and tested with 100,000 people in a full-size database.
- Password-free sign-in, by email code or with Google, and phone notifications with Trupe closed.
- More than 80 automated tests, encrypted daily backups and installation on the phone as an app.
