The challenge

Publish research texts with notes, references and the feel of a magazine, without depending on a blogging platform and without the author having to touch code.

What was built

  • Three tabs: the project, the contents (with search and category filter) and the page about the author.
  • Each text has a category, topic, date, reading time, notes in the margin, references and a ready-to-copy citation in the Brazilian ABNT style.
  • Email subscription, with confirmation and one-click unsubscribe.
  • The author's dashboard: the editor accepts text pasted from Word and Google Docs while keeping the footnotes, and has buttons for margin notes and footnotes.
  • In the editor, a ready-made Instagram image with the title of the text.

Under the hood

  • Its own server, with no external dependencies.
  • Read counting without cookies and without storing IPs.
  • Daily encrypted backup of texts, pages and images, kept for 90 days.
