Barreto Jiu-Jitsu
Website for Barreto Jiu-Jitsu, a Jiu-Jitsu team for adults in Brasília's 507 Sul, with a direct lineage from Hélio Gracie's first group of students.
The challenge
Tell a three-generation story and show a serious team, not a franchise and for adults only, taking visitors to the free trial class on WhatsApp.
What was built
- A single page that moves like a magazine: the opening with the name in large letters, the team, the classes, the facilities, the instructors, the history and contact.
- Classes by time slot (morning, lunchtime, no-gi lunchtime and evening), with the days, the instructor and the level, plus the fundamentals class for complete beginners.
- The team's timeline, from the Barreto brothers' Rio de Janeiro to the 507 Sul headquarters, opened in 2016.
- The instructors with name, class and rank, the video tour of the facilities and, at the end, the map and WhatsApp.
Under the hood
- Plain HTML, CSS and JavaScript, no framework; the animations and smooth scrolling are served by the site itself, with no CDN.
- With “reduce motion” switched on, everything appears in place straight away and the video doesn't play by itself.
- Hosted on Vercel, for now as a preview without its own domain.
